11 dead after coach plunges off cliff in SW China

KUNMING, April 29 (Xinhua) -- A coach plunged off a cliff on Saturday in southwest China's Yunnan Province, leaving 11 passengers dead and nine others injured, local authorities said Sunday morning.

The accident happened around 5 p.m. Saturday in Yunxian County in the city of Lincang, said authorities with the county government. Seven people were confirmed dead on the spot, and another four died in hospital.

Of the injured, six are in serious conditions.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
