BEIJING, May 11 (Xinhua) -- Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met on Friday with Tajikistan Foreign Minister Hamrohon Zarifi.
Zarifi is visiting China to attend a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which took place on Friday.
Bilateral relations have made a historic leap since the two countries established diplomatic relations 20 years ago, Yang said.
The two sides have signed the "Good-Neighborly Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation" and worked on a series of cooperative projects since relations began, Yang said, adding that both countries have coordinated well in international and regional affairs.
China attaches great importance to its ties with Tajikistan and is ready to work with the country to advance the state of their cooperation, he said.
Zarifi said the development of bilateral relations has benefited the people of both countries.
Tajikistan values its relations with China and will firmly adhere to the one-China policy, as well as support China's efforts to fight terrorism, extremism and separatism, he said.
Tajikistan is willing to make joint efforts with China to promote the comprehensive development of bilateral ties, he said.
