Zhao Leji elected CPC chief of NW China's Shaanxi

XI'AN, May 11 (Xinhua) -- Zhao Leji was elected secretary of the Shaanxi Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Friday.

Zhao, born in March 1953, was elected to the post at the first plenary meeting of the 12th CPC Shaanxi Provincial Committee held in Xi'an.

Zhao joined the CPC in 1975, spending a great deal of time working in northwest China's Qinghai province. His political career in Shaanxi began in March 2007, when he was appointed secretary of Shaanxi's CPC Provincial Committee.
