Road accidents kill 10, injure 24 in SW China

GUIYANG, May 18 (Xinhua) -- Ten people were killed and 24 injured in two road accidents that occurred in southwest China's Guizhou province on Thursday and Friday, respectively, local authorities said late Friday.

An unplated heavy-duty truck rolled over while making a turn on a road in Huangping county at 4 p.m. Friday, crushing several students and other pedestrians, the county publicity department said in a statement.

Four people were killed in the accident. Four people who were injured in the incident are receiving emergency treatment at a local hospital.

The second accident occurred in the city of Bijie on Thursday afternoon. A bus rolled over and killed five people at the scene, injuring 21 others. One of the injured died later while receiving treatment at a local hospital.

Both accidents are under investigation.
