A Tuesday circular issued by the Ministry of Health called for stricter standards for nursery employees.
Those with a history of mental illness may not work in nurseries at all, while those with dermatosis or infections of their respiratory or digestive systems must refrain from working in nurseries until they are given a healthy diagnosis by medical institutions at the county level or higher, the circular said.
Prospective nursery workers must undergo a physical exam administered at a county-level or higher medical institution, as well as obtain a health certificate, before working in nurseries, the circular said.
The circular said nursery staff may not wear rings or long fingernails while on the job, and must also refrain from smoking while on nursery grounds.
