BEIJING, June 11 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese legislator Lu Yongxiang met with a delegation from the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii (CCCH) here on Monday.

Lu, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, China's top legislative body, praised the CCCH's important role in promoting Chinese culture and boosting understanding between the people of China and the United States.

The delegation is composed of the "Narcissus Queen" and "princesses" selected during the Narcissus Festival, an annual event held by the CCCH that is aimed at encouraging young women of Chinese descent in Hawaii to carry on Chinese culture and boost China-U.S. exchanges.

The delegation is visiting China at the invitation of the China Association for International Friendly Contacts.

Founded in 1911, the CCCH is the largest social organization for Chinese-Americans in Hawaii.
