BEIJING, July 20 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese official Jia Qinglin on Friday said China is willing to increase efforts with Djibouti to push for the greater development of bilateral relations.

Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the nation's top political advisory body, made the remarks in a meeting with Djibouti's President Ismail Omar Guelleh.

Jia said China is willing to further increase political mutual trust, solidly push forward practical bilateral cooperation and strengthen communications with Djibouti on important global and regional issues.

Jia told Guelleh, who is in Beijing to attend the fifth ministerial meeting of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), that China will properly implement new cooperative measures announced at the meeting so as to foster a new type of strategic partnership with Africa.

Guelleh expressed thanks to China for its generous help in promoting Africa's development, saying that Djibouti will strengthen ties with China to jointly contribute to international and regional peace and facilitate bilateral economic and social development.

The FOCAC is a collective consultation and dialogue mechanism between China and African countries launched in 2000. This year's forum runs from Thursday to Friday.
