Taiwan's Central News Agency reported on Tuesday that Yang Jintian, who is in charge of the island's foreign affairs, has ordered its representative to Japan to return as early as on September 12.

Earlier today, Yang also summoned Japan's top envoy to Taiwan, Sumio Tarui, to protest the decision made by Japan's government at a Cabinet meeting Tuesday morning on spending 2.05 billion Japanese yen (US$26 million) to buy three of the Diaoyu Islands.

Yang said Japan's plan to buy Diaoyu Islands has infringed upon China's territorial sovereignty and asked the Noda administration to reverse its decision to "put the islands under state control."
