Yang Xiong appointed deputy Party secretary of Shanghai

Yang Xiong, executive vice mayor of Shanghai, has been appointed deputy Party secretary of Shanghai.

Born in 1953, Yang earned a Master's degree in economics in 1985 from the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

He worked as deputy director of the Economy Research Center of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government after graduation and was appointed vice mayor of Shanghai in February 2003.
