BEIJING, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo on Tuesday met with Kim Moo-sung, special envoy of Republic of Korea (ROK) president-elect Park Geun-hye.

Dai said Kim's visit to Beijing reflects the great importance Park has placed on developing China-ROK relations.

That relationship has developed quickly, deeply and widely since the two countries forged diplomatic relations in 1992, Dai said, describing it as having become "a paradigm of how neighbors of different systems can work together."

The state councilor said China would like to work with the ROK to plan the future, make more progress and benefit the two nations in a bid to contribute to regional peace, stability and prosperity.

Kim, who is on a four-day visit to Beijing, said president-elect Park is paying great attention to developing ties with China.

The ROK would like to take the inauguration of its new government as an opportunity, expand ROK-China cooperation in various fields, improve exchange mechanisms and seek better development in the bilateral strategic partnership, Kim said.

Dai and Kim also exchanged views on the regional situation.
