The region is accelerating construction of its mobile communication networks.

In 2013, Tibet is expected to see 170,000 new phone subscribers, with penetration of 96.8 per hundred people, according to the administration.

Maritime satellites will fill tele-communication blanks in remote areas where there is no road traffic or power supply.
