A dead newborn was discovered early this morning inside landscape shrub in a residential complex in Pudong New Area, triggering a police investigation, according to xinmin.cn.
A sanitary worker at the Pudong Juye residential complex, the first witness, reportedly said she saw "something wrapped up by a bundle of clothes" about 6am during work.
She came closer only to discover a newborn inside. The baby looked just born a while ago and was already breathless, it's reported. The cleaner alarmed police and the newborn was pronounced dead on the scene by paramedics.
Police reportedly have launched an investigation into the death.
