Local Public Security Bureau in Shenmu County of Yushu, northwest China's Shaanxi Province, begins to take strong measures for sorting out residents with two IDs from now on to March, according to the report of Xi'an Evening News.
Three measures would be taken including cleaning up the data of the population information management system, re-check comprehensively the migrating of household registration since 2005, and verification of the cancellation of the resident registration of the deceased.
The check is focusing on civil servants, corporate executives and self-employed.
The move follows a recent hukou forgery scandal in which a local rich woman named Gong Aiai is found to have two additional household registration papers.
