BEIJING, April 17 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese official Liu Qibao met with a media delegation from Macao on Wednesday, calling on the Macanese media to contribute to boosting economic prosperity and social stability there.

Liu, head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remarks while meeting the delegation headed by Lu Bo, president and editor-in-chief of the Macao Daily News, in the Great Hall of the People in downtown Beijing.

Liu, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, briefed the delegation on the spirit of the 18th National Congress of the CPC and the notion of the Chinese dream. He also took questions from Macanese media representatives.

Liu hailed the fine patriotic tradition of Macanese media, adding that he hopes they can promote economic prosperity and social stability for Macao, as well as serve as a bridge of communication between the Chinese mainland and Macao.

Lu said the Macanese media will continue to make contributions to the implementation of "one country, two systems" and maintaining long-term prosperity and stability in Macao.
