Death toll of Shanxi fireworks blast rises to 25

No additional deaths or injuries have reported.

The blast, identified as a production accident, occurred about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Xiangliu Firecracker Factory in Xiangfen County, said Liu Jinying, deputy director of the provincial production safety bureau.

Most victims were local women who worked as temporary workers at the factory.

Victims killed or injured in the blast are mainly from burning or suffocation. Five of the six severely injured have been sent toa local hospital for burning treatment. The another worker was under emergency treatment after being transferred to the Linfen municipal hospital. And the other three slightly injured are being treated in the Xiangfen County People's Hospital, said sources with the Xiangfen County People's Hospital.

According to Liu, an investigation team was formed Wednesday afternoon and the probe for the cause of the accident continues.
