QINGDAO, Aug. 23 (Xinhuanet) -- China and Russia started third-phase of the joint military drill to practise offshore blockade Tuesday.
In the third-phase lasting through to Thursday, the drill is set to focus on offshore blockade, amphibious landing and forcible separation.
Three destroyers, three frigates, one submarine and planes from the Chinese People's Liberation Army navy, and a large anti-submarine vessel, a missile destroyer, carrier helicopters and an early warning plane from the Russian navy attended the maneuver.
The offshore blockade, conducted at seawater off China's Shandong Peninsula, constitutes a substantial component of the unprecedented eight-day Sino-Russian joint military exercise.
