According to a local witness, there were two wedding cars, a Buick and a Volkswagon Jetta, running together to the southern city. As they were passing by the Caihuying Bridge, the Buick made a mistake by going toward Lizeqiao Bridge(located on the Third West Ring). The Jetta thus stopped, waiting for the Buick to reverse. Almost at the same time, a man(the bridegroom's uncle) got out of the Buick to help the driver back up. However, for an unknown reason, the car knocked down the man suddenly and ran over him from the right side. The bridegroom, upon seeing the tragic scene, fell on his knees by his uncle's side, and tore away the banner with characters of"Bai Nian Hao He(Love For All Seasons)" on it while crying his heart out, another witness told the newspaper. The"Bai Nian Hao He" banner torn away by the bridegroom. He remained on his knees and kept sobbing even after the ambulance had arrived and put the uncle inside. His father, who arrived later, failing to pull him away, shouted with an accent,"Cheng(presumed to be the bridegroom' name). I'm dad. Get up." The father later said the wedding would be delayed, but refused to say more on this. The driver was later found to be from the same place as the bridegroom, and is a migrant worker in Beijing. According to him, they were driving two wedding cars to pick up the bride near Caihuying, and he led the way. However, due to unfamiliarity with the road, he passed the Caihuying Bridge instead of going to the Second South Ring Road. Therefore, he decided to back up the car. As there are a great many cars near Caihuying Bridge, the bridegroom's uncle offered to help guide him. The bridegroom fall on his knees, almost destructed by the death of his uncle."I didn't see him, nor did I know how the car ran into him," the depressed drive said. The driver is currently under detention, and the accident is under investigation. During the interview, the traffic police told the newspaper that though the accident was caused by illegally backing up, it was directly related to the illegally covering of the car's license plate. Had the license plate not been covered, the driver would not have dared randomly backing up the car on a ring road. The policemen went on to emphasize that there are some vehicles apart from wedding cars that cover the license plates on purpose to avoid punishment, which is severely punished upon detection.
