A heavy snow fell on Altay of Northwest China's Xinjiang Thursday, Nov 13, 2008, the first this year in the region.
About 1,000 vehicles are stranded on a section of a major highway in northwest China after rain and snow left an impassable layer of ice on Thursday, Xinhua reported.
