Quakeproof houses in NW China prove stable

A quake hit the juncture of Kalpin and Akqi counties, in Tianshan Mountains, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, late Friday, Feb 20, 2009, affecting more than 14,800 people.
Direct economic loss reached nearly 60 million yuan (US$8.8 million). According to investigations, none of the quakeproof houses built in recent years was damaged in the quake.
