Child contestants perform during the "Stars Shine Over Tianshan Mountain" talent show in Urumqi, in northwest China's Xinjiang Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, August 13, 2009. The show was started in April and over 1,300 contestants from various ethnic groups in Xinjiang have passed the preliminary auditions, with the oldest being 73-year old and youngest only five. Organizers hope the show, part of the programs to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, will also help people recover from the deadly July 5 riot in Urumqi that left 197 people dead and more than 1,600 others injured.
