Workers are busy constructing the main beam of the Jiaxing-Shaoxing Bridge in Haining, east China's Zhejiang Province.

Under a total investment of 13.9 billion yuan (2.2 billion U.S. dollars), the 10-kilometer bridge is the second trans-oceanic bridge over the Hangzhou Bay after the Hangzhou Bay Bridge.

The driving time from Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province to east China's Shanghai Municipality will be reduced by nearly 50 percent once the bridge is completed by the end of 2012.
