20 killed, 14 injured in Gansu coal mine accident

20 miners were killed and another 14 were injured in a coal mine accident early Tuesday morning in Baiyin City, in northwest China's Gansu Province, the latest local sources said. 

The accident occurred when a steel rope carrying an elevator with 34 aboard snapped in the pit.

20 miners have been confirmed dead, and 14 injured are undergoing treatment in hospital.  The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
