A female infant was spotted under a seat on the K530 train from Chengdu to Hangzhou around mid-day yesterday. She was in a woven bag and the women who brought the bag had gotten off in the early morning, local news website reported.

The baby girl was found by a passenger who heard cries from beneath the No. 65 seat. He pulled out the woven bag under the seat and found her.

The baby looked healthy and warmly dressed. She kept crying. Her age could not be confirmed as there was no identification material in the bag. Some passengers said the baby as such should be around three to five months old.

Police found out that the bag was brought by two middle-aged women, “who looked no different from other people”. They tucked the bag under the seat as soon as they got on the train, just like many people would do to their luggage. They got off in the early morning at Yingtan station of the neighboring Jiangxi province.

The train departed 11:43 pm on November 19 from Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province and arrived Hangzhou around mid-day on November 20. Passengers who sat nearby said they didn’t hear any crying until the train almost reached its destination.

The police have launched a search for the girl’s parents, but before there is any result, she has to stay at the Children’s Home, according to zjol.
