LI HUANAN, deputy chief of the Shenzhen Party committee and secretary of the Shenzhen municipal politics and law committee, is under investigation for “serious violations of discipline,” according to the Guangdong Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

Wang Weizhong, Shenzhen Party chief, chaired a meeting of the Standing Committee of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the CPC yesterday concerning Li’s investigation. Leaders at the meeting said they supported the decision by the Central and provincial authorities and urged officials in the city to remain vigilant in the fight against corruption.

Li, born in 1959 and a graduate of the law school of Anhui University, started his work in Shenzhen in November 1993 as an employee of the city’s legislative affairs bureau.

He was appointed as head of the city government’s legislative affairs office in May 2004. In June 2010, Li was appointed as president of the Shenzhen Intermediate People’s Court. In November 2011, Li was appointed as secretary general of the Shenzhen Party committee before he was appointed as deputy secretary of the Shenzhen Party committee in May 2015.
