Draft Chinese law stresses food security

BEIJING, April 22 (Xinhua) -- A draft law to be further deliberated on by Chinese lawmakers has highlighted measures to ensure the country's food security with efforts in protecting croplands and seed security.

The draft law on promoting rural vitalization will be submitted for the legislators' third reading at a session of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), or China's top legislature, set for April 26 to 29.

The new law will also include content on the vitalization of rural culture, development of rural industries, building the talent pool for rural areas and promoting the urban-rural integrated development, said Zang Tiewei, spokesperson for the Legislative Affairs Commission of the NPC Standing Committee, on Thursday.
