At least three people were injured, two of them seriously, when a blast, reported to be caused by a homemade explosive, went off inside Terminal 2 at the Pudong International Airport at around 2:20pm today.

The blast happened at the C check-in counter, authorities said. Police have cordoned off the area.

Witnesses said an object, which looked like a firecracker, exploded in the hand of a male passenger as he queued up in front of the check-in counter. He was among the injured and was seen lying on the ground after the explosion.
