BEIJING, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- An operation has been carried out in south China's Guangdong Province to curb frequent smuggling activities in the waters of the Pearl River Estuary.
The operation has seen 55 cases involving criminal gangs cracked and 353 suspects arrested, the China Coast Guard (CCG) said.
Smuggled vehicles and contraband goods were also seized, while hideouts and landing sites were investigated, the CCG added.
The operation was the first of its kind jointly performed in the area by the CCG, public security organs and Hong Kong's marine police. Enditem
