Halloween – Time to get your drag on!

2009-10-27 08:55:15 GMT2009-10-27 16:55:15 (Beijing Time)  City Weekend

Calling all queers, divas, homos, fag hags, fruit flies, kinksters and wanna-be drag queens!

Closeting a desire to cover yourself in glitter and silver body paint while wearing tiny shiny hot pants with fishnet stockings and strut around in those 8 inch platform boots you saw in 3.3 Mall and have been secretly coveting ever since?

Now is your time to step out and into the limelight!

Beijing takes dressing-up and getting freaky for Halloween seriously – this is a time to dig deep into your deepest queer desires and EXPRESS yourself!

Halloween is quite possibly the only night of the year where our inner gay divas, drag queens and bondage fetishes are not only socially acceptable but encouraged – nay, demanded!

With less than 48 hours till party o’clock – your costume deadline is fast approaching my darlings...

Tick tock tick tock – time is running out to get that oh so perfect and utterly over the top costume for the many fabulous parties happening in the ‘Jing.

While technically not a costume party – rumors abound that many the homo are planning on donning something a little Halloween-esque tonight at Mesh Bar’s queer cocktail night (7-11pm happy hour).

All good things must come to an end in this ever-changing city, and this week sees the final farewell of White Rabbit Club’s weekly Thursday night QUEERESSENCE party.

Not one to slip away quietly into the night, QUEERESSENCE will celebrate serving Beijing up almost a year of queer aural pleasure with a “HAPPY HOMO HALLOWEEN: Devils, Demons & Drag” costume party tonight.

For the final hurrah, free shots will be poured down the throats of all those in drag (be it King or Queen) and for those not in the mood for playing dress-up, free shots are also on the table for anyone willing to flash a little flesh and go shirt-less on the dance floor!

While there are approximately 2 million billion Halloween parties going on in Beijing this Friday night, options are somewhat limited for those seeking a gay Halloween, but rest-assured, there are some still pleasing (and very gay/gay-friendly) choices!

Word on the street is PROMEN are doing a little something this Friday at the Hotel G behind Destination but you’ll have to join their secretive yahoo group to find out more and get an invite…

Eager to sail on a sea of pink RMB, [The Boat has gone all gay this Halloween with their HALLOWQUEENS: Ghost Ship Costume Party.

The flyer claims the title of “the official Gay Halloween” making me wonder just whom the authorizing body of gay parties is in Beijing, but with free entry and 2 for 1 shots all night for men in costume, who really cares!

Offering up DJ action by @LLEN, BB, QQ and SAUL.D on The Boat’s newly renovated 2 levels of dance floor, upstairs promises “disco, retro, mash-ups, '80s & electro” while the lower deck features “alluring house and gay anthems” – HALLOWQUEENS sounds promising – and possibly very queer!

For a truly wild and queer-friendly Halloween clubbing experience, I highly recommend both the annual YEN FETISH at Star Live by Ditan Park and ACCUPUNCTURE RECORDS SPOOKED at Ku-18 in the 798-art district.

These two massive parties are guaranteed to see you dancing till dawn to Beijing’s best DJ’s with the freakiest fags and wildest weirdoes in town. Event crew YEN always does a stand-out Halloween party – no doubt this year’s YEN FETISH will be not exception.

Expect incredible house, techno and drum 'n' bass with legendary Beijing DJs Mickey Zhang, Yang Bing, Dio, Usami and Blackie, plus visuals aplenty from VJ ADD+.

Tickets on clubzone.com.cn have now sold out – but pre-sale tickets (80rmb) can still be hunted down from many café’s, restaurants and stores throughout the city.

Local minimal-tech masters ACCUPUNCTURE RECORDS also put on a not-to-be-missed Halloween party last year and plans this year’s SPOOKEDlooks set to raise the bar even higher for a memorable Halloween of sweaty bodies writhing on the dance floor in ghoulish glee.

Featuring tricked-out sound and lighting, a bevy of prizes for best costume, Acupuncture’s 8 incredible techno DJ’s and a spooky 798-art district German designed warehouse location, it’s a combination that’s hard to beat.

Last year both events saw great quantities of naked flesh, corsets, PVC, leather and drag strutting about. Nothing you choose to wear (or not to wear) is too outrageous - trust me.

Issues with monogamy? Unable to make up your mind? Its Halloween darling! Be wild and carefree and go to them all!

You might want to buy advance tickets for this approach to save yourself some cash to use later at the bar/s… have some 2 for 1 shots at The Boat, once suitably inebriated, head on over to with YEN FETISH and then be fashionably late by heading over to SPOOKED around 2-3am…

Perennial gay favorite and very queer friendly White Rabbit Club is hosting the official YEN FETISH after party, but expect to find party people from all over the city finishing their night down this 2 level sub-terranean basement of hedonism and wanton homo erotica.

Damn is that the time? – I gotta get back to finalizing my costume, Yashow, Hongqiao, Alien Street anyone? I need more glitter!
