This Saturday, there are tons of parties and concerts to check out around town, but it’s also Earth Hour. At 8:30 p.m. the lights will go around Beijing, including the Olympic venues.
Beijing’s five star hotels are also getting into the act.
The InterContinental Financial Street. At exactly 8:30 p.m. the hotel lights will be turned off (at least in the public areas) while the restaurants (such as the fabulous Steak Exchange) will prepare a candle light dinner with an hour of free-flow complimentary cocktail concoction called Iceberg (pictured).
Meanwhile the Doubletree by Hilton throws a Cocktail Candle Party featuring free-flow beer for RMB20 for the hour.
The Westin Beijing Chaoyang hands out a free vodka cocktail shot at 8:30 p.m. and ladies get free sparkling wine. Drinks are 50 percent off the rest of the night.
Earth Hour has become a genuine worldwide phenomenon with 377 cities across 74 countries committing to participating this year.
