Wanbao, Oct 12, 2009: more CBD for the Jing

We're finally back. We self-imprisoned ourselves underground to make MobileMetro.mobi reality — sooner — and let more lines become reality sooner. The iPhone-optimized MobileMetro.mobi now covers all of Line 4, as well as part of Line 1 and Line 5. Follow @MobileMetro on Twitter for more news.

The headliner today is all about our city. (Duh. It's supposed to be that way.) The big headliner is about the CBD expanding further east (see, that's why there's that great big Eastern 4th Ring Road), while the big pic shows the Zhongguancun Dual Screw back in action. 10.13 meters in height, it's probably there to symbolize tomorrow — October 13 — but that's only our guess.

Beginning today, new car limits apply. In super-easy bullet list form, work out the trailing digit of your car's license plate — and match when you're forced into Subway mode:

Mondays: 3, 8

Tuesdays: 4, 9

Wednesdays: 5, 0, letters

Thursdays: 1, 6

Fridays: 2, 7

These plate limits apply throughout the rest of 2009 and will switch again — for the last time we hope — in early January 2010.

Finally, is that journalist just too much of a pain? The new journalism codes to go into effect this Thursday (October 15) will set up a "credit system" for journalists. Bad journo people will get their journalist license revoked — boom, like that. Of course, those of us in the know obviously know what's "bad news" — but hey, your Beijingologist doesn't desire self-harmonization...

Cars with plates trailing in 4s and 9s are out of action tomorrow. Brr-ish temps tonight: 12°C - 23°C. Oh well, at least there's plenty of sun tomorrow...
