Cantonese food promotion
Tang Palace Cantonese Restaurants is holding a promotion in six of its branches in Beijing. Shark fin with snail and dried fish air bladder in chicken broth used to cost 238 yuan per person, now it's 128 yuan. The eatery recently introduced fried lotus root with preserved red chili, and plain fried fresh water chestnut, both at 38 yuan a helping. Wangjing branch: 8478-5198
American food festival
Golden Jaguar holds an American Food Festival until Oct 25. Foods featured include American potato, Alaskan seafood, Californian cheese and raisins. An American chef will be cooking, accompanied by American-style music. The California Tourism, Hawaii, Chicago and Florida tourist bureaus is organizing interactive programs and a lucky draw on Friday evenings, with the top award being a free trip to the United States.
