Music lovers in Beijingmay remember a performance ten years ago on November 19, 1999 - theclosing performance of the 2nd Beijing Music Festival - which has sincebeen referred to as "the pinnacle of poetic perfection". Isaac Stern,at the invitation of the Beijing Music Festival Arts Foundation, recreated his monumental Chinapremier of 20 years prior with Li Delun, the crème de la crème of theconducting world, by again performing the Mozart Violin Concerto in GMajor. At the time, Stern was more than 80 years old, and only a littlemore than a year away from the end of his life.
Another ten years have passed since that unforgettable night, and during thistime we have lost those two musical masters. Yet musicians that appearin the documentary, including Wang Jian, Vera Tsu and others, havesince risen to occupy an important place in today's internationalclassical music scene.
