Coco Avant Chanel
Video stores around town are carrying two versions of this film that follows the life of the amazing Coco Chanel. Get the French one, NOT the American one. Bearing with the subtitles is worth it for Audrey Tautou’s performance of the queen of women’s fashion.
Case 39
The creepy-psychogenius child thriller never gets old. Think of this as the female version of The Good Son. Renee Zellweger stars as the clueless, good-hearted social worker who gets played by a little she-devil. Don’t watch it alone.
The Genius of Photography
The BBC explores the world of photography and imagery in this six-part documentary that is as fascinating as it is relevant. Put this on your watch list for the first weekend when it’s too cold to go outside.
Lucky Find: I’m A Cyborg, But That’s Ok
Korean director Park Chan Woo helms this beautifully batty tale of two mental institution inmates who fall in love with each other. It’s overly-saccharine, but worth it just to watch Korean superstar Rain jumping around in a Donnie Darko-esque bunny mask.
