Lang Lang is one of China’s most famous musical exports. His considerable piano skills have not only snagged him a slew of international awards, but also a spot on Time magazine’s 2009 list of the world’s most influential people. In this concert Lang Lang combines a Christmas celebration with a nod to the 200th anniversary of the birth of Hungarian composer Franz Liszt, performing a selection of works from his CD Liszt, My Piano Hero, including “Consolation,” “Liebestraum,” “La Campanella,” and “Piano Concerto No. 1,” as well as some traditional Chinese pieces like “Song of Yangtze River,” which he performed at the opening ceremony of the Shanghai Expo. Conductor Yu Long leads the China Philharmonic Orchestra in accompaniment. Check out Lang Lang’s latest DVD Modern Liszt, a documentary of Lang Lang’s life behind the scenes. Lang Lang is also slated to star in the upcoming film The Flying Machine—co-produced by China and Poland in honor of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Chopin—for which he also wrote and performed the score. ¥280-1,680.
