Whether it’s a professional headshot or just for fun, glamour photos are guaranteed to make you gorgeous, dahling, just gorgeous. There’s a number of different studios throughout the city that offer glamour photography for the masses.
“Make sure you know what style you want beforehand,” says professional stylist and makeup artist MeiLi Autumn (she’s also our Fashionista columnist). Watch movies, look at magazines or search the internet for potential styles you want to go for. What should you look for in a good photographer? Try someone with good Photoshopping skills. “You’re doing something fun and creative, not a portrait!” says Autumn. No extra preparations are necessary before your shot—just make your arrangements and pop in.
Rage Photography Studio, run by native English-speaking professionals, offers a wide variety of glamour shot options. A basic session will cost around ¥1,500, while a more advanced session out on the Great Wall can cost up to about ¥5,000. Clothes and makeup are included in the cost.
For a professional touch, try SharpenStudio Beijing, whose clients often involve a number of high-level magazines and professional clients. The studio is well established in the fashion industry, offering a good number of packages for individual clients. Expect to pay around ¥1,500 for a photo without a makeup artist, and ¥1,800 with, including the studio fee and the photographer. You’ll have to bring your own clothes, but the photographer will be pretty tolerant if you want to change often.
Shunyi-based Imagine Studio’s service is top-notch, especially when it comes to kids. Packages run from about ¥1,000-1,500. Shoots take about two hours, and you’ll need to bring your own clothes.
Felix Photography Studio, also in Shunyi, offers a number of basic packages (prices vary) with an added photographer’s fee of about ¥600. You can choose anywhere in the city to shoot. Makeup isn’t included, but you can get your face done for another ¥600.
