The Dragon Boat Festival is a great opportunity to get out and have some good old fashioned fun. Whether your passion is for sports or food, there's something for everyone going on this weekend.

Events

New Street Mandarin is running a zongzi-making class where you'll learn the history of the Duanwu Festival as well as how to cook your own zongzi at home. June 21, 11am - 3pm

Beijing Mandarin School is celebrating the Dragon Boat Festival with a party. Professional teachers will provide instruction on how to make rice dumplings, and there will also be prize giveaways. June 21, 6pm - 8pm

Lantern Club is partying hard in honor of "everyone's favorite random Chinese holiday." DJs Weng Weng, ELVIS.T and Jackson Lee at Lantern Space and DJane BB Deng at Lantern Box. June 21, 10pm

Kids aged 4-10 can create their own dragon boats at i3 Art Studio. They'll be provided with materials and work as a team to make dragon boats and learn about the holiday. RMB80/child June 22, 10am - 6pm

That's Mandarin is also hosting a Dragon Boat Festival party at their Dongzhimen campus, where you'll have a chance to make zongzi as well as race paper dragon boats. June 22, 7pm - 9:30 pm

Kempinski Hotel has gourmet gift boxes from Dragon Palace or from Kempi Deli, featuring a range of creative fillings. Premier Dumpling Delights Box is RMB188 and Surprise Box is RMB138. Through June 23

Hilton Beijing has a wide variety of dumplings available, with everything from traditional red bean to savory spiced beef to organic duck eggs. RMB199-499 per box. Through June 23

Shangri-La Hotel is offering an eclectic selection of rice dumpling with unique flavors, including Thai-style chicken and low calorie purple potato dumplings. Seven different types of gift boxes and hampers are available. Through June 23

Ritz-Carlton Beijing is taking a different approach to the Dragon Boat Festival and offering a variety of rice puddings in their Yu restaurant. These will range from traditional to modern interpretations crafted by their culinary team. Through June 30

Ritz-Carlton Beijing Financial Street is serving Cantonese-style rice dumplings at Qi and also selling leather gift boxes, available for RMB368 in either orange or blue. Through June 30

Sheraton Beijing Dongcheng has traditional Dragon Boat Festival zongzi rice dumplings at YUE. The cost is RMB168 for a box of six, or RMB208 for a box of eight. Abalone zongzi are also available for RMB108 per dumpling. Through June 30

China World Hotel has zongzi at their Summer Palace restaurant, including lotus seed paste, sweetened red bean paste, assorted meats and Chinese dates. Gift boxes and gift hampers are also available. Through June 23

InterContinental Beijing Beichen has a range of gift-wrapped rice dumplings, ready to present to friends or family. RMB148-198 net/box. Through June 23

Grand Millennium Beijing is offering zongzi in their Yao Chi Restaurant and also to purchase in gift boxes. 6 flavors of zongzi for RMB188 per box or 8 flavors of zongzi for RMB228 per box. Through June 23

Macau Chinese Restaurant has a variety of zongzi for sale at RMB188-268/set. Through June 23

Sunworld Dynasty Hotel has six different varieties of zongzi available for purchase. Through June 23
