For more than thirty years, the London Sinfonietta has been committed to commissioning new works from living composers and is one of the leading ensembles in the world today.
A major figure in contemporary music, British composer George Benjamin rivals Penderecki in his musical achievements, and this programme bears witness to some highly authoritative renditions of new music.
UK Now is the largest festival of British arts and creative industries ever held in China. Between April and November 2012 it is bringing hundreds of events to at least 17 cities across China. During the festival, some of the most established and influential UK artists and artistic companies, as well as lesser-known talents from the UK’s broad creative scene will tour will tour Hong Kong and cities across Mainland China.
UK Now is managed by the British Council (which operates in China as the Cultural and Education Section of the British Embassy) in partnership with Brunswick and HSBC, and generously supported by Burberry, Diageo, IELTS, IHG, Jaguar Land Rover, John Swire & Sons, Norton Rose Group, Prudential, and Standard Chartered Bank. The strategic media partner is Modern Media Group. It has been developed in collaboration with China’s Ministry of Culture and other Chinese partners.
