Guo Geng, a member of Beijing Municipal CPPCC (Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference), submitted twice the proposal of banning animal performance on the two political sessions of Beijing.

He said that 36 countries and 389 cities in the world had prohibited or restricted animals to put on shows to entertain people. However, some sight spots in Beijing, a world well-known tourist city, still presented the merciless animal play to the public, which severely damaged the international image of Beijing as well as did harm to the healthy development of children.
