SHANGHAI, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai Fashion Week will be held offline in the city's multiple fashion hotspots starting from Oct. 8 with strict epidemic control measures in place, according to the organizer.

Shanghai Fashion Week will hold nearly 100 new product launches, including men's and women's ready-to-wear lines, kids' lines and gowns.

Hosting Shanghai Fashion Week offline will drive the further recovery and consumption upgrade of the consumer market, and also help more young local designers shine, said Liu Min, deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce.

The city saw its total retail sales of consumer goods expand by 11.5 percent year on year in August, Liu said.

Shanghai kicked off its autumn shopping and tourism festival earlier this month, which featured a variety of sales promotion activities during peak shopping periods such as the upcoming National Day holiday and the Shanghai Tourism Festival.

In March, a special season of Shanghai Fashion Week was launched online due to the epidemic, in cooperation with the Chinese e-commerce platform Tmall.
