Brazil's COVID-19 cases near 5.5 mln

SAO PAULO, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's COVID-19 cases reached 5,494,376 after 26,106 new cases were reported, the country's Ministry of Health said on Thursday.

Meanwhile, 513 more deaths were registered, bringing the national death toll related to the virus to 158,969.

The state of Sao Paulo, the most populous in the country, has been hardest hit, with 39,119 deaths and 1,108,860 cases.

Brazil has the world's second highest COVID-19 death toll, after the United States, and the third largest caseload, after the United States and India. Enditem
