A group of statues of the ancient Chinese people were used for hanging quilts in Nanjing, E Jiangsu Province, a witness surnamed Zhu said yesterday.

These four statues were located along the Qinhuai River near the Confucius Temple. Mr. Zhu found that their heads were all covered by quilts and mattresses when he passed by. It was a shame to spoil the urban scenery for personal convenience, Mr. Zhu said.
