CHINESE actor-director Sun Daolin died this morning in Shanghai's Huadong Hospital at the age of 86.
Sun, born on December 18, 1921, in Beijing, was a distinguished artist, especially in the memory of the generation now in their 50s and 60s.
Sun was the leading actor in more than 10 movies, including the "Threshold of Spring," in 1963, "Radio Never Faded" in 1958 and "The Family" in 1957.
He directed two movies, including Thunderstorm in 1984, and dubbed for more than 20 foreign movies.
Sun retired from the stage when he was 84. His latest appearance in public was at the funeral of another famous actor, Chen Shu, in October 2006.
