BEIJING, Jan. 19 (Xinhuanet) -- The 4-year-old son of the late "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin has taken after his dad as he took pride in getting his first snake bite, his mom said.
Robert Irwin wasn't at all alarmed when he was recently bitten by a baby boa constrictor, Irwin's widow, Terri, said Monday at her appearance at New York's FAO Schwarz toy store with her two children to promote a new line of toys.
"He picked one of them up and it bit him on the finger, and he was so proud to have copped his first hit," said Terri.
"He said, 'I hope it wasn't venomous,' so I assured Robert I wouldn't actually let him play with venomous snakes," she added.
According to Terri, the couple's 9-year-old daughter, Bindi, was first bitten by a snake when she was 18 months old.
Terri also said Bindi will unveil her doll, which resembles her and plays recordings of her voice advocating wildlife protection.
Steve Irwin died on Sept. 4, 2007, within minutes of being stabbed in the chest by a stingray's poisonous barb as he swam near the animal while filming a documentary on the Great Barrier Reef.
He was famous for his enthusiasm for wildlife and his catchcry "Crikey!" in his television program Crocodile Hunter, which was first broadcast in Australia in 1992 and has aired around the world on the Discovery channel.
