Ethan Hawke, girlfriend expecting 1st baby

BEIJING, Jan. 31(Xinhuanet) -- "Training Day" actor Ethan Hawke and his girlfriend, Ryan Shawhughes, are expecting their first baby, media reported Thursday.

"I can confirm and they are thrilled," Hawke's publicist, Mara Buxbaum, told the media Wednesday.

"No further details will be made available," Buxbaum said in an e-mail.

Hawke, 37, has two children with his ex-wife, actress Uma Thurman -- nine-year-old daughter Maya Ray and Levon Roan of 6.

After Hawke and Thurman split up, he took up with Shawhughes, 28, who once worked as a nanny to his children.

Though Hawke was allegedly carrying on an affair with Canadian model Jennifer Perzow during the final months of his marriage, he has repeatedly attributed his breakup with Thurman to other factors.

"The story of us breaking up over infidelity has been an annoying one," he told Details magazine in a 2004 interview. "If our problems were that simple, we'd still be together. Uma and I were having troubles long before the press got a hold of us."

The estranged couple have since ironed out their difficulties on behalf of their kids, with both sides describing their present-day relationship as amicable.
