HANGZHOU, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- Famous Chinese film director Xie Jin died early Saturday at the age of 85 in the eastern province of Zhejiang.
A hotel waiter in Shangyu City found at around 7:40 a.m. that Xie had stopped breathing, according to the city's publicity department.
Xie, born in 1923, was a native of Shangyu. He arrived in the city on Friday evening to attend the 100th anniversary of the founding of his alma mater - Chunhui Middle School.
A number of films directed by Xie had won top awards in the country.
