YUM revealed that KFC has already terminated its contract with Taiwan actor Kai Ko and brands like NIVEA are also considering the same move, according to CNR-China Business Radio. After Kai Ko was detained for drug taking in Beijing, the crisis involving more than 20 brands he endorses is spiralling out of control.

On August 14, Beijing police arrested Kai Ko and Jaycee Chan (son of Kong Fu star Jackie Chan) for drug abuse at Chan’s place, seizing marijuana which weighs more than 100 grams. The actor Kai Ko, who rose to stardom for his role in the hit movie You Are the Apple of My Eye, put more than 20 corporations he endorsed into crisis.

Insiders said that Ko's arrest will definitely affect his acting career and his agency, as well as the brands that they have signed contracts with. The commercial advertisements currently on air will surely be halted, and these brands will possibly look for other celebrities to replace him.

Moreover, the corporations will seek compensations from him as a result of the negative image caused by his bad habbit. For instance, in 2009 when Japanese actress Noriko Sakai was arrested for drug abuse, one corporation asked for 16 million compensatory payment.
