For most women, their control pants are a secret weapon, holding in their excess tummy fat beneath their party dresses.

But Beth Ditto shared hers with the world today, during an abortive attempt to strip at Radio 1s Big Weekend festival in Swindon.

The Gossip frontwoman had arrived onstage clad in a skintight purple asymmetrical dress. But Beth, who has previously posed naked on front covers of NME and Love, soon decided to shed her clothing.

Revellers were treated to the sight of the plus size singer rolling her dress up above her waist.

Thankfully the 27-year-olds Spanx - the control pants beloved of many celebrities - saved her from exposing too much - although there was still plenty of flesh on show. Mail Online reported.

Also performing was Alesha Dixon, who wore an equally clinging outfit. Her bright red leggings and basque combination left little to the imagination as she cavorted with scantily clad male dancers onstage.
