And clearly it is beginning to be a bit of a losing battle as the already tiny Cheryl Cole appears to be fading away.
The Girls Aloud singer showed off a teeny-tiny waist in her body-con top and fashionable leather 'treggings' as she left her hotel for the The X Factor auditions at Glasgow's Hampden Park.
Cheryl's mid-section looked so small, that it could easily be encircled by a pair of hands.
The singer also showed off her jutting hip bones in leather leggings.
In fact her tumbling mass of hair extensions was the only thing that was big about the 25-year-old singer.
Last year Cheryl sparked fears for her health after appearing 'emaciated' and emotionally fragile during the X Factor final.
Fans expressed concerns on online forums after her ribs could clearly be seen through a cutaway Julien MacDonald dress during the show's emotional final.
A source said at the time that Cheryl, had been worrying about her act Alexandra Burke's chances in the competition.
However, with the X Factor long finished and Cheryl gearing up for her second season as a judge, the reason for the weightloss is probably more easily explained.
Cheryl and the band have been touring their Out Of Control album which finished in her hometown of Newcastle on the weekend.
The combination of high-energy performance of dancing and singing has no doubt seen the singer unwittingly lose pounds.
Cheryl began the tour nursing a painful foot injury following her epic Mount Kilimanjaro hike in February for Comic Relief.
