Bradley Cooper has picked the first project for his production company, The Warner Bros.-based 22nd & Indiana.

Cooper will produce and potentially star in an adaptation of "American Sniper," the tale of "the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History."

In the memoir, Navy SEAL Chris Kyle recounts his record-setting military history, during which he claims to have killed more than 150 people.

The Texas native learned to shoot on childhood hunting trips with his father and later served in during the Iraq War.

Jason Dean Hall, who penned "Spread," will write the script while Cooper will produce with Andrew Lazar and Peter Morgan.

Cooper has a busy schedule ahead with three movies coming out later this year - "Hit and Run," "The Place Beyond the Pines" and "The Silver Linings Playbook" - as well as two more set for 2013 - "Serena" and "The Hangover Part III."

"The Hangover" franchise is a Warner Bros. property, one reason Cooper set up his production company at the studio earlier this year.
