Professionally, Chinese director Peter Chan is at the Venice Film Festival selecting awards winners. But personally, he is there to do some star-chasing for his daughter.
Chan, who is on the main competition jury at this year's Venice Film Festival, shared a photo of him with American actor Zac Efron on his Weibo.
Efron is in Venice for his film "At Any Price", which has been short-listed for the festival's top Golden Lion award.
Chan wrote that his 6-year-old daughter has been a fan of Efron since she was 4.
It seems that being a jury member didn't give Chan any advantages when meeting with Efron. Chan said he couldn't meet the actor during the screenings, as he wanted to be fair with the other award candidates. But during his spare time, he asked his contacts to help him get in touch with Efron.
Finally, a French actress helped Chan set up a meeting, and he was told to wait for Efron at the entrance of a local restaurant. Chan exclaimed in his Weibo post, "This is the first time I've ever been a fan."
Zac Efron is not the only star Chan's daughter wanted her father to pose with. According to Chan, he is trying to pose with American actresses Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens as well.
The 69th Venice Film Festival will end on September 8.
